Howling The Truth

 Im going to use shooting especially since many love this arguement.   Are you a shooter? How would you define that?  Long before this dude goes into Oylmpics and wins with no real extras, it has been up for arguement about what makes a good shooter.  My take is on it from this view point. Lets not say good shooter or bad. Lets not even caterogize number of hits in the center. Lets look at it from this point.  I myself love less as I have mentioned before. My goal is to get out and enjoy what Im doing more than buying gear. I do have gear. I have some lazer sights, scopes and a few other items. My daily carry doesnt have tons of optics. Reason is, Im not planning on carrying for every senerio each I walk out. Im mostly worried about anything up close and personal.  Many love compund bows and all the gadgets. I use a recurve. No sights, just the basic set up. My compund bow, same thing. I have used the sights and all the little items.   Once again I perfer doing things in a minimal way. I truely enjoy completing a shot the old fashioned way. With all the gadgets on my compund bow, its really hard to miss a shoot if you practice. With some of the items it is truely fogiving to some bad habits.  Kind of like having a golf club that was designed to have a large sweet spot on the face of it vs. having a extremely accurate swing.  Shooting my recurve requires that even with practice I need to be highly consistent.   Its just a personal choice to have things more challenging. With that said, many times I will turn cheats on my PS5 so its easier to win. 

 I get asked this a lot.   Simply, it is a minimalist sport. I enjoy the fact that I can carry everything I need in a small pouch. If Im going a long distance I might use my vest to carry a few extra items. The streams are quiet. I can fish for anything that every one else fishs for. I have in my vehicle two rods, a vest and a pouch with waders. They take up very little space. I can stop almost any where and cast. Fish in all the same spots as anyone else.  For me its a very simple way to fish and enjoy the outdoors. I dont drag around poles, seats, tackle boxes and tons of gear. With that being said I do have tons of gear, I just dont use it all at one time and to be truthful most of is really isnt needed. 

 We owe no one anything because of what our ancestors did.  Saying a white, black, indian, asian or anyone else owes someone anything because of incidents that happened 100 years ago is kind of ridiculous.  Especially when you look at history about who did what.  To put it in a compparison way, if some one kills your family member, 200 years later you want something in regards to the incident, is not really viable. Especially if they served time, put to death or what ever the punishment is. To say you feel threatened because of it, well thats kind of stupid. So at end of day, there comes a time when things need to change and let go of what can be let go. Stirring hate over something that really doesnt impact anything is a control tactic to prevent progress and control people by keeping them fighting.

 One thing that would help almost everyone on planet, is for many to realize that not everything is perfect.  Deliveries arent instant. Flat tires happen. People get stuck. Cars break down. Mistakes happen.  Sometimes you have to step away from fun to handle a crisis or help someone with a problem.  There is even days when skipping work is required to take care of something or another.  This whole we shouldnt ever have to deal with any issue in life, is leading to so many who fall completely apart because things aren't absolutley non intrusive into their life.  Next time you have spent four hours straight on a video game and someone asks you to help or power goes out and you cant play. Dont freak out and whine that end of world is here. Find something else to do till you can get back to your hobby what ever it may be. If you played gof 4 days in a row and your kid asks for you to help with something, dont act like its an inconvience.    

  If people would take time read the congressional rules they would understand how only two people stop a budget approval. They would understand the difference in senate and House of Representatives. They also understand the voting process and several other things that happen in our government. If so many weren’t so eager to just blame each side. They might start to see where real problems lie. Might even learn that they are as much of the problem as those a holes. AI, social media and the need to put opinions and ideas that really have no impact on running the country in order to obtain power over the people has become more of a forefront than actually knowing what your party and voted officials are doing. Might even learn that some state offices who have claimed a shut down didn’t have to. While they receive some federal funding they also receive state funding. So why did they not show up? People might learn from being informed by reading the constitution. People might ...

 Simply once you have grand children you realize why you didnt drown your kids for all the problems they caused you. My daughter once said, you know we are in the house, several of your children are here. I was like yeah and your point is.   I have heard people say oh I dont want them around all the time. You are just trying to make up for mistakes. Many different comments.   For myself I dont feel I have to make up for any mistakes. But I do believe that with grand children, parents have a chance to lighten up. In our defense its hard to find that middle ground of letting the parents be parents and not stepping in. So we shoot for the fun side.   I told my daughter, its my job to spoil them, its your job to stop me.

 I made a post about deer tresspassing on property. Simply a group of deer eating some old fruit for farm trees and vines, with a note Darn trespassers. We have at any given time 10-30 wandering around. We are more apt to hit one in our drive than on the road sometimes. It makes it great for the family who hunt and great for those who enjoy the view with coffee.  Someone made a fairly hateful remark that humans are the trespassers not them.  First of all it was a joke. Second of all I bought this land they didn't. Third whether you believe in God, Big Bang, evolution or just that we sprang up from out of no where, then stupid comment.  Heres my take. I this is the opinion of someone I respect that. Doesnt have to be some hateful rant about why you do or dont believe something over a joke that simply was labeled trespassers.  But if it bothers someone so bad, buy a rocket and leave the planet.  Just to clarify, because for some reason, some people seem to think that a post, picture or even a general statement means you believe in something or don't.  Im not against hunting, fishing or anything. I dont believe in waste. If you kill it, eat it.  The reason I do not hunt is because we raise cattle. I have at any time close to a 1000 pounds in freezers. Most of my family eats from them. Every year we have two butchered. So there really is no need for hunting. As far as shooting, I had enough in the military and when I do, I perfer targets that I dont have to clean and allows me to pick my weather.  Any hunting is only to teach the skills to the children for them to understand how. I have other sports that enterain myself more. If I want or need any deer meat, I get it from son in law or a family member who hunts. The term critical thinking is used as more of a control measure than actual critical thinking these days. Many say no one uses critical thinking. Especially when it comes to politics, religion and several other of the hot topics on social media. Just because someone doesn’t agree with someone doesn’t mean they don’t use critical thinking. Critical thinking doesn’t mean someone has to agree with someone else.  It means that someone thought thru something and formed a judgement or conclusion.  It doesn’t mean I have an idea and you must agree with me. Heres where many get so POed about critical thinking. Facts or facts. Opinions are opinions.  When the opinion is preached as fact and someone doesn't agree it becomes a comment of, "you dont think, you are incapable of critical thinking." Thinking doesnt have have to be factual or have any real purpose. But if you want someone to agree with you or at least respect your idea, you have to be willing to accept that some will not...

 Im a minialist when it comes to doing anything. Too much gear is a pain and causes things to get confused and lost. Nothing wrong with having things, but if you arent using it why have it.  My opinion is that, you can be a gear junkie or actually do the sport. In some cases if you can afford to be both roll with it. 

 I was asked about my fly fishing gear multiple times.  First I suggest, but its your money, dont spend $1000 on a rod, 700 on a reel, a thousand on boots and waders. Your call. All my gear is an accumulation of over 30 years. much isnt used always but family uses what I dont. saves them from buying for the occassional trip.  I perfer 5-7 weight rods. I do have a 8-9 weight.  I have Orvis Batten III, Fenwick Reel, A custom rod I inherited from Dad, Diawa Rod, Cortland Reel, picifisun reel, redington rods, redington reel, fishpond vest, a spikta chest carry used for binos and fly gear, several different items.  rods are 2, 3 and 4 piece. Personally I never had an issue with any because of pieces. I do perfer the 4 piece for travel and backpacking trips.  I did spend a little on the fish pond vest.  Ever notice how many go to the store and buy what ever the hit show is, get on social media and claim they are the real deal. Yellowstone, SOA, Seal Team, and several others lead to the purchase of leather, cowboy hats, bikes and god only knows what else. Followed by the social media content of, "im the real Rip, Im a real biker, Im a real operator. Its an unfortunate thing and for those that are really the part. those that grew up on the farms in the 1% clubs in the service it not only is a joke but also an insult when these fakes try and ter down those that really lived the life.  Heres the funny part. almost all these shows have a disloyal story line. people screwing over their families and friends for profit or power if not both. So the question is are you showing your true colors or you making a fool out of yourself?

 Ever notice these days how competition has become an excuse.  Well If I had another quarter, we would have won. If there were four more laps. If I hadnt slipped. If I had my other vehicle. If the moon rotated the other way. There was a time in sports where the winner was hosted and given the respect of the win with a stern follow up. We will see you next race or what ever the competition was. At end of day if you failed to complete the standards for the win that is ultimately on you.  If you loose admit you lost and go back win the next time. Someone who wins all the time has never met any real competition.

 Its an unfortunate part of todays society, that people, especially young people have lost the ability to be outside.  Gaming, computers and many other reasons. Working to many hours. List goes on and on. People just dont step away from what they are doing.....to just go outside and be outside.  Its not a sign of being poor to do your own yard work. The cost of living is higher because of the many extras people pay for that used to be done by themselves.  Doing yard work, farm work, remodeling home and doing other tasks, not only saves you money, but creates exercise as well.   

 No, I would not put a dogs life before a human life.  There are a few rare occassions where that it could happen.   However, Friendship is another story. In many cases the dog's friendship has been earned by them, where as, many humans are non-loyal, non-trustworthy and not worth the time or effort. Your status, position and placement in someones life is earned by your actions.

 Translates into - A way for political parties to scare the voters, blame each other and make everyone jump thru hoops. Then take credit for stopping or fixing the problem. It starts with shutting down the easy stuff and forcing people to make changes. Close parks and other daily use areas.  Many of which are free to enter and dont have any real tangile funding day to day to make a difference. But it does get peoples attention. Then it grows into the next and next.  When everyone screams loud enough, someone or group will take credit for it restarting, while everyone blames the other person or group.  All with the hopes and many times successful of creating a hate and discontent that is actually created by two or more groups, each claiming you need us here for you. Keep in mind though that this occurs almost every year to some extent and people still fall for it.  Maybe the people should stop paying everything for the time of the shutdown. Taxes and all.  Everyone screamed for equal rights in the military.  Now someone is willing to have one PT standard.  Clarified it with some women will or wont make it and some weak men wont make it. The end result, now everyone is creaming this isnt fair.  Doesnt get anyone more fair than one standard and give everyone a shot.
