Being good at somng or appearing to be good at something
Im going to use shooting especially since many love this arguement.
Are you a shooter? How would you define that?
Long before this dude goes into Oylmpics and wins with no real extras, it has been up for arguement about what makes a good shooter.
My take is on it from this view point. Lets not say good shooter or bad. Lets not even caterogize number of hits in the center. Lets look at it from this point.
I myself love less as I have mentioned before. My goal is to get out and enjoy what Im doing more than buying gear. I do have gear. I have some lazer sights, scopes and a few other items. My daily carry doesnt have tons of optics. Reason is, Im not planning on carrying for every senerio each I walk out. Im mostly worried about anything up close and personal. For myself its not a need.
When we talk about putting rounds down range on a target, even with pistol. I like to do it from iron sights. 25-500 yards.
My idea of a good shooter is putting consistent rounds in a group at a designated distance without much help. Because I feel if you do this then anything that helps should make you better. For example, if you are hitting target dead center at 100 yard with a grouping of lets say the size of 50 cent piece, using iron sites or open. Then once you add in optics, braces, stands, bi pods and/or any number of other items, then you should be hitting that 100 yards center mass with a grouping the size of a quarter or dime.
My idea of being good at something is being good in the raw form, then improving with the addition of help. But when it comes to a competition, I think it is more rewarding to win or take top spot doing it from the most difficult scenerio than basicallty doing it from a purchased scenerio. Because when you have a hands down no arguement win, it is satifisying to know that you won a solid victory and as the runner or loser, you can at least say you were beaten and have a fair chance of improving and winning next round.
As for the win it takes away all the, if I had another round, if I had a better scope, if I had better shoes, if the moon was red instead, and all the excuses. People will always make some excuse but at least in an absolute victory, there is honor.
